Frame it!

Still enjoying the La Belle Vie paper packet!  It's amazing how far the paper has stretched into many different projects.  Here is the new My Creations Bracket Frame.  It is a pre-assembled chipboard bracket frame that is an inch deep.  You can decorate with paper that fits your theme of the room and go crazy with embellishments.  I also used the new black tulle ribbon with a little bling!

A Unique Goodie "Bag"

A unique goodie "bag"

There are so many reasons I'm enjoying the Fall/Winter 2012  Idea Book release of ideas, paper products and the Cricut Artiste.  This is a little gift bag I created using the La Belle Vie paper packet and the Artiste cartridge. It was so easy and took a few minutes to completely assemble.   I inked the edges with smokey plum ink and garnished with the Mini Medley Gold button.  I also attached the velcro snaps so the purse can stay closed, but be opened easily.   I am going to fill this bag with goodies and give to a dear friend the next time I see her with a cute little note in the pocket.

Mojo Monday 255

Here is this week's Mojo Monday Challenge!  Today,  I used La Belle Vie paper packet and Bonjour Stamps.  I inked in smokey plum.

The paper is so beautiful and feminine.  Give me girlie girlie anytime and I am sunk.  I just might have to have a few extra packets stashed away.  I think it is going to be one of my favorite.  Then again, I say this every time a new product comes out.

A little decoration....

Trying to find little decorations to complete a look is really difficult.  I like to change things around a lot, especially with seasons.  I found these frames over a year ago and they have been hanging on my wall without any art.  I wanted to coordinate whatever was on my tea cabinet with the frames.  I just couldn't find the right thing.  That is until I saw some really cute images on the CTMH Cricut Cartridge Artiste.  These are a few of 700 images that I could choose from.  They were so simple to cut out and I will not feel bad to change them up with the seasons.  I can use these frames to host a variety of different art.  I'm just so happy I finally found something to put in them.  Now, to start thinking about fall art!  But until then, these cute black silhouettes will be just perfect!

Send a Card!

Over the past several years, I have had an amazing opportunity to be a part of the Sonshine Ministry at our church and school.  This ministry sends cards to people in our congregation for all different occasions.

You can't imagine the power of a card with simple sweet sentiments to reassure a person that they are not alone in this world.  A card says someone cares, someone is praying for you, someone took the time to let you know you matter.  I know, I've received several of these cards when I had been going through some really tough stuff.  It reached deep in my heart and sparked hope.  Our school gets notes of appreciation all the time from recipients of the cards created by our students.  The notes bring humble tears that a card meant that much to someone.

There are so many ways to get involved in sending cards.  Find a soldier to write to, someone in hospice, a person recovering in Teen Challenge, a note to encourage a teacher, or just a thinking of you card to someone special in your life.  It could be the exact thing they needed that day.

I created these cards with the CTMH Avonlea Workshop on the go kit.  The card holder is cut from the Cricut Artiste Cartridge. I used the kit's stamps to create the card holder print. This paper pack is so elegant and very versatile.  Can't wait to send these out!

Strawberries

When I think of summer, I almost always think of strawberries.  I really enjoy strawberry picking, and fresh strawberry shortcake.  I also delight in making homemade strawberry jam, syrup and ice cream.

Strawberries make me think of simpler times.  Hot summer nights on the porch watching the neighbors take early evening walks.  Kids trying to squeak five more minutes of riding their bikes before going in for the night.  Times where people really connected and knew their neighbors.  Times where things slowed down over a delicious summer dessert.

Well, when I saw strawberries as one of the 3-D items on the CTMH Cricut cartridge, I just had to make it.

I used CTMH ruby red for the strawberry.  I then embossed with a little floral print.  Using a sponge dabber I rubbed the strawberry to give it dimension.  I then cut the leaves out of CTMH Olive paper, and scored the leaves and used Olive ink to shade.  The basket is cut out of Kraft paper and then I ran the extra through my shredder for the filling.  Finally attached a cute bow.

Mojo Monday #254

Mojo254

I am so excited about starting to participate in the Mojo Monday Challenges!  It is a great way to not only get your creativity juices going, but also to see all the other amazing creations.  I have had this paper pack forever and really wanted to scrap pages with it, but as the beginning of the school year approaches, I had to cling to a little bit of summer.  Cupcakes and ice cream definitely make me think of summer and parties.

Here is my entry for this week.

How Sweet it is....embellishing that is!

I love to bake!  Especially cupcakes!  Paper cupcakes come with so many less calories, but not any less need for embellishments and attention to the little details.  When crafting with paper, look for areas to give the paper life and dimension. A little cocoa ink to the creases and edges, and a chocolate bow, makes all the difference.  Its almost pretty enough to eat!

Is Your Story being Lost?

My Sister and my precious Nephews

Last night I had a rare few moments with my sister and nephews.  We had dinner together.  I know we are only 20 minutes away from each other, but she is a single mom with two tweener boys that have very hectic schedules with school, sports, friends, church, and dad time.  I hold as equally a crazy life, but without the kids in tow.  Anyway, we met at Panera and my sister and I started sharing stories about our childhood with the boys.  They were laughing and getting a kick out of our crazy escapades as sisters. There was this very quick second I look up at my sister and our eyes met.  We were telling our story.

Too often with technology today, photos and communication are all digital.  People Facebook, Twitter, Skype, text and email instead of writing a letter or card.  Photos are one in a dozen, because you have a million of them on your phone, ipad, or computer.  All great things...but where does it all go.  Things aren't being written anymore.  Stories of our emotions, feelings, and memories are somewhere out there in cyberspace. Families are so very busy (GUILTY), that we don't take time to stop and share the stories.

Our story is being lost.  There is so much to tell.  This is my core reason I create cards and scrapbook pages.  I don't want my story to be lost.  I still want to be able to write a special sentiment to someone, a tangible expression of my feelings.   I don't want all the events of my life to be lost on the Timeline of Facebook. I want my story to outlast the latest technology craze.

A few of the creations from Convention 2012

I was a newbie at the CTMH Convention this year.  I didn't know a soul and had no idea what to expect.  I just knew that it had to be great!  I was going to be sharing 4 days with women who love to create!  How bad could it be???  Well, I had an amazing time.  There were over 13 hours of creating time and then some.  Everywhere you went through the hotel, there were swaps going on, people creating at tables, and LOTS of laughter.  I met some wonderful ladies from the very first night I was there.

If you are wondering if you should go next year, I would say HANDS DOWN YES YES YES!  The catch is, you have to be a consultant to go.  If you are interested in hearing more about my great Texan adventure, and why you should become a CTMH consultant, please email me and we can schedule a conference call to chat.  If you are local, lets meet over a cup of tea or coffee in my Creative Cottage!  Oh and by the way, this year's convention is in Disney World!  Discount rates on rooms, before and after convention!  Just saying:0)

Cute as a Button! Using the new Cricut Artiste

I started using the CTMH new Cricut Cartridge Artiste this evening.  I can't believe I've had it in my scrap room for a couple of weeks now without opening the box.  Tonight was the first time I just got to play.  This cartridge has over 700 images and tons of wonderful 3D items.  I wanted to do something small and cute.  What better way than with a set of little shoes.  It was so easy to make and I only used one piece of paper and had plenty left over to make a gift card!  I will post more pictures later!

If you are interested in ordering your own personal cartridge today, click here  Cricut Artiste

Happy Cutting!
