Rett Syndrome Awareness Disney Hop

Welcome to the First Annual Blog Hop to help raise awareness for...

Rett Syndrome Awareness

Your first stop should be Robin Lane's Blog .  If you did not start there please go back to the beginning so you are sure not to miss out on all amazing projects.  Also Robin will be offering some eye candy, so be sure to hop all the way to the end.  You must be a follower of Robin's blog and have left comments on everyone's blog along the way to qualify for blog candy!  If you came from Melanie's Blog, you are on the right trail!

What is Rett Syndrome? Rett Syndrome is a devastating neurologic developmental disorder that occurs almost exclusively in girls. It is usually caused by a mutation of the MECP2 gene on the X chromosome. Rett Syndrome is found in all racial and ethnic groups throughout the world, and in every socioeconomic class. Rett Syndrome affects 1 in 15,000 female births.

Early developmental milestones appear normal, but between 6-18 months of age, there is a delay or regression in development, particularly affecting speech, hand skills and coordination. A hallmark of Rett Syndrome is the repetitive hand movements that may include seizures, irregular breathing, swallowing difficulties, and curvature of the spine. Many individuals with Rett Syndrome live well into adulthood. There is currently no cure.

Autumn Card Workshop

On Friday Night, I hosted an Autumn Card Workshop.  I wanted everyone to try different techniques and just play!

The following were some of the techniques:

- using sweet treat cups with cards
- embossing using cuddle bug, sanding
- triple layer stamp technique
- using the new CTMH alcohol markers
- rainbow effect with stamping

When I looked at the wonderful ladies that attended this workshop sharing their hearts and doing crafts, I had to smile.  This is why I enjoy doing what I do.   Ginger's Creative Cottage was providing a place for friendships to cultivate while creating!  Feeling so blessed!

What is a Blog Hop????

So, I am sitting in my Autumn Card Workshop last night (by the way, SO much fun!!!) and one of my guests asked me what is a Blog Hop?  This isn't the first time I have been asked this question, so it got me thinking.  Perhaps, just maybe, we as scrappers/crafters are starting to speak our own language?  We tend to forget there are a whole bunch of novices out there that have no idea what we are saying!

So, a blog hop is a where a bunch of creative crafters get together and post their amazing work on their blogs and a host creates a list of these crafters and lines them up by their blog url (address).  Then when someone wants to visit the blog hop, they start at the beginning and can quickly go through a bunch of blogs and see MANY great projects and ideas based on a theme by clicking on the links provided on each blog.

Today, I participated in the Autumn Art Philosophy Blog Hop.  I am going to tell you, there are some really creative/cool stuff on this hop if you want to view for yourself hop over to Lucy's Blog to start from the beginning.  I was so inspired that I actually went to my Creative Cottage Studio and crafted for hours.  That says a lot, since I was up until after midnight last night with my fellow crafters making autumn cards.  With this all said, I came away with some pretty cute thank you note cards!  Thanks to Stephanie and her adorable design, I was inspired to create these cuties!  This is truly what blog hops are all about!

Acorns cut out using Art Philosophy cartridge,
I ran the tops through my Cuddle Bug and then inked with chocolate ink.

Envelope cut out using the Artiste Cartridge, stamped with
Harvest Memories acorn stamp.

Cardstock is Dreaming, colonial white, desert sand, and bamboo
I used the hemp string to make bows.

Mojo Monday 263

I've been wanting to create with the Pemberley paper packet for quite a while.  It is a beautiful combination of blues, tans and yellows.  I used the WOTG Stamp set and used Denim and Indian Corn blue inks as well as buttercup yellow.  I added little petite pears to embellish the blue card stock.
